Myofascial Release in Regina
Osteopathic Myofascial Release is a type of manual therapy that focuses on releasing restrictions in the body's connective tissue, or myofascia.
There are deep and superficial layers of myofascia that support and create separate compartments for our muscles. Without our myofascia our muscles would just be loosely hanging off of our bones. Myofascia creates one uninterrupted 3D web of the human body. With myofascial we learn about tensegrity - tension + integrity. Due to the extreme connectivity of the myofascial system working on your head can help to release tension and pain in the plantar surface of the foot and working on your outside calf muscle can help to release your jaw.
This type of therapy can be beneficial for treating a wide variety of conditions, including:
Chronic pain
Headaches
Jaw pain
Pelvic pain-Postoperative pain
Scoliosis
Shoulder pain

Frequently Asked Questions About Myofascial Release Therapy

This therapy can be performed over clothes or directly on the skin. We will first talk to figure out what the problem areas are or what the goal of the appointment is. The therapist will then assess the client visually to see where and how the fascia is being pulled and what strain this is having on the body. Next the therapist will come up with a treatment plan and start assessing the fascia on the body continually performing assessments and treatment as the myofascial tissue releases and lengthens.

Drinking water after a myofasical release treatment is always a good idea. Having the time and space to relax and not have much on the calendar is also a good idea after these appointments.
